I tried the grease gun but the grease went around the minie so that didn’t work. I broke two ball pullers of on the ball, JB welded the last puller into my rod and it still stripped the puller. I am looking at the ones by Ox-Yoke and seem to be reasonably priced at $9.99/100 from TOTW. Not the "Wonder Lube Wads" -- the Seals.Using the 12 ga., originals or a single barrel in line trap gun, I have used a 1 and an 18th shot dipper for both powder and shot. I have used black powder and substitutes. If you can not get Mike;s over powder wads use two over shot wads over the powder, half a cushion was, lubed or not, shot and an over powder wad.The wad serves three purposes. 1) Protects the base of the conical from powder flash which can melt or otherwise deform the base of the conical. This can result in increased leading and reduced accuracy if the base of the conical is melted or deformed. 2) Increased gas-check/sealing.Both rifles are Investarm rifles, the flintlock is a Lyman Great Plains Rifle and the percussion is a Cabela's .58 caliber Hawken. I'm thinking about swapping out the percussion breech plug on one rifle for the flintlock breech plug on another. The flintlock is .50 caliber and the percussion is .58 caliber. The outside dimensions are the same.It is nice and small and reasonably easy to make. The pattern is drawn on 1" squares. Then I use a scale that has very fine measurement and also measures in pretty much all different units but I use grains.
